William Arnone -
served as Chief Executive Officer of the National Academy of Social Insurance and previously chaired its Board of Directors, advancing public understanding of social insurance’s role in economic security. He was a Partner at Ernst & Young for 15 years, leading retirement, financial education, and benefits strategy for large organizations. With over 35 years of experience, he has specialized in retirement policy, financial literacy, and aligning benefit plans with business and workforce goals. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Buck Consultants and worked in public service positions focused on aging and workforce issues in New York City.
Arnone has written extensively on retirement, Social Security, and Medicare, co-authoring Ernst & Young’s Retirement Planning Guide and contributing to The Columbia Retirement Handbook. He has also written for major media outlets including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Huffington Post. He has served on the Board of Trustees of the Employee Benefit Research Institute, was a founding board member of the National Academy of Social Insurance, and chaired major policy conferences and research initiatives.
He holds a B.A. from Fordham College and a J.D. from New York University School of Law, and was a Charles H. Revson Fellow at Columbia University. Early in his career, he worked for Senator Robert F. Kennedy and later advised national political campaigns, including those of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. He has also been active in pro bono and civic initiatives related to Social Security and age-friendly policy.
